Contemporary modal jazz

Indigo Pulse

Nocturnal, spacious, rhythmically alive.

Indigo Pulse is a studio project to explore contemporary jazz shaped by nocturnal texture, asymmetrical pulse, harmonic color, and restraint. Music for late hours, reflective rooms, and attentive listening.

Musical Identity

An Expanded Sense of Time

Indigo Pulse explores contemporary modal jazz through asymmetrical pulse, spacious arrangement, and an expanded rhythmic vocabulary shaped by traditions that extend beyond the familiar architecture of common-time jazz and Western popular song.

Indigo Pulse's music often moves through shifting meters and uneven rhythmic groupings, while remaining grounded in melodic clarity, harmonic movement, and the expressive openness of modern jazz.

While Indigo Pulse often explores asymmetrical pulse and expanded rhythmic vocabulary, the project is not limited to odd meters. Some pieces move through more familiar jazz forms — ballads, bossa-influenced grooves, swing, and post-bebop language — using texture, harmony, and restraint as the main sources of movement. The common thread is not complexity, but a search for fresh ways to make jazz feel spacious, alive, and quietly unpredictable.

Editorial rhythm

The time bends, but the music still breathes.

Indigo Pulse approaches rhythm less as technical display than as atmosphere, movement, and emotional tension. Measures do not always resolve where expected. Accents drift. Familiar harmonic movement unfolds against unfamiliar rhythmic footing.

The goal is not disorientation, but expansion: opening listeners to rhythmic languages that feel surprising at first, then gradually natural.
